Style Scouting: Vol. 285

This past week had me taking on one of my favorite projects ever…

Taking care of my grandkids has been an incredible adventure, and this time it was spending a week in Virginia with my 5-month-old grandson while his parents worked. As a former stay-at-home mom, I have immense respect for working mothers – they truly rock having to take on so much every single day!

My grandkids brought me back to my own parenting days, and I found myself reminiscing about the joys and challenges of raising a young family. As I settled into my routine of caring for my grandkids, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia wash over me. It’s been a while since I’ve had this much one-on-one time with them, and I’m determined to make the most of it.

On a more practical note, my time with the grandkids has also given me the opportunity to get a head start on my spring cleaning. With the contractors still working on our foyer and the tree pollen making its presence known, I’ve been decluttering and cleaning like a pro. In just two days, I’ve accomplished more than I thought possible, and I’m excited to share my progress with you this week.

Style Scouting Essentials

As I’ve been enjoying my time with the grandkids, I’ve also been keeping an eye on the latest fashion trends and must-have items. Here are a few of my top finds for this week:

Fashion Finds

  • Colorful Statement Piece: I came across a stunning piece of clothing that caught my eye – a beautiful blouse in the color Petunia. I plan to wear it with jeans and as a swimsuit coverup. You can find it here.
  • Thinking Walk: If you’re looking for a way to clear your mind and get inspired, try going on a “thinking walk.” It’s a great way to get some exercise and fresh air while also giving your brain a chance to wander. I found a great article on the topic here.
  • Monday Motivation: Starting the week off on the right foot can be tough, but I found a great article that offers a positive prescription for the dreaded “Monday.” Check it out here.

Home Decor and Organization

As I’ve been tackling my spring cleaning, I’ve also been thinking about ways to improve our home decor and organization. Here are a few of my top tips:

  • Decluttering: The first step to any successful cleaning project is decluttering. Start by getting rid of anything you no longer need or use, and then focus on organizing the items you want to keep.
  • Minimalist Decor: One of the key principles of minimalist decor is to keep things simple and uncluttered. This can be achieved by using a limited color palette and avoiding busy patterns.
  • Storage Solutions: Finally, don’t forget to think about storage solutions. Use baskets, bins, and other containers to keep items off the floor and out of sight.

Food and Drink

As I’ve been spending time with the grandkids, I’ve also been thinking about ways to make mealtime more enjoyable. Here are a few of my top tips:

  • Easy Meals: One of the best ways to make mealtime more enjoyable is to keep things simple. Try making easy meals like grilled cheese sandwiches or scrambled eggs.
  • Healthy Snacks: Another great way to make mealtime more enjoyable is to offer healthy snacks. Cut up fruits and vegetables, and offer cheese and crackers.
  • Special Treats: Finally, don’t forget to save room for special treats. Try making homemade cookies or ice cream for a fun and indulgent treat.

Conclusion

As I wrap up this week’s Style Scouting, I want to leave you with a sense of inspiration and motivation. Whether you’re tackling a big project or just looking for ways to improve your daily routine, I hope you’ve found something here that resonates with you. Remember, it’s all about finding that perfect balance between style and substance.
